An ocean of identical online art tutorials… how boring

An ocean of identical online art tutorials… how boring

When people first asked for art tutorials from me, I believe it was because they knew I wouldn’t lie about what was easy or hard, I’d just describe in clear words how I paint certain things in an achievable way without the soft focus camera and perfectly placed props nearby. Enjoyment over ‘product’.

There are sooo many art tutorials and reels out there which show how to do things, loads of them free. I don’t think there’s anything out there like my library of art tutorials, for beginners or more experienced painters who want to remember why they love painting and drawing.

Reasons why the Badibidu membership is (anti) perfect for you sparkly creative souls:

  • I love painting, I get excited about it, I love them sensory aspect and what I can produce. I can’t learn from someone who is bored with what they’re creating, or too cool. I am neither :D Hopefully I can help you to feel excited and curious again, so essential for getting that ‘pull’ to your paints or pencils

  • So many of the free tutorials out there are the same! I crave variety, and I don’t want to learn by copying someone a brushstroke at a time. I want to build my skills so I can paint whatever I want. My tutorials are quirky and fun but have proper skills included in them. Never boring, loads of learning, all relaxed.

  • The Badibidu community is made up of people like you. This is a small and lovely group of kind, creative peeps, who want to look after themselves and make sure they’re reminded to feed that little creative pixie in their brain who gets sad if there’s not enough colour about. Lots of us are neurodivergent or disabled, all of us are working hard and love injecting creativity and learning into our month, none of us want to be bossed about. We can turn up however we like, as much or as little as we like, and follow my themes or freestyle. No judgement.
  • The group is small enough you can email me for ideas, next steps, or to find the right materials, and I’m happy to help. You also have access to me via a monthly live creative body-doubling session with the group and an additional live taught session via my charity session for small donation to ADHD UK. You don’t have to have ADHD to attend, you just have to want to come and paint with me!

  • People with differences and disabilities don’t need people telling them to do things in a really specific way, or feeling like they’re in trouble if they freestyle or take a month off. You can turn up to this group, as yourself, whenever you can, and ask questions, or let me know what’s making things hard and we’ll find a way to work with it. Whether that be body-doubling, accessibility tools, a change of materials or mindset.

  • Whilst we do creative body doubling once per month we natter (or listen) to each others lives a bit. Health, kids, work, pets, all chat is lovely and the chat you get back understands that they can’t fix it but it’s lovely to be around the right people. We will coo over your wonky art and you can coo over ours.

  • No one will tell you that you’re doing something the wrong way. We’re done with that attitude ;)

What my kind of people are often looking for is simple: a place where we feel understood. A space that doesn’t assume everyone works the same way. A way to be creative without being corrected, patronised, or boxed in. A sense of belonging. That’s what the membership is trying to offer.

Hopefully £20 per month is well worth that kind of company and support - but I’m happy to help you find a way to trade skills too if it’s out of your price range.
