Awesome Businesses and Neurodivergence Advocacy
Share
We like businesses who look after their employees. We like them a lot.
We like businesses who make sure that their team understand how to communicate with each other to ensure everyone can produce their best work in a co-operative and comfortable environment.
Along with helping individuals realise the benefits of antiperfection (see blog post on 5 ways that Antiperfection will improve your life) I've worked with companies in a number of ways in the last couple of years in an attempt to spread good information on Neurodivergence and Antiperfection to as many people as possible. I also wrote a guest blog on Antiperfection vs Burnout Culture.
We need organisations to be taking steps forward in talking about mental health and disabilities and I can provide a first step in a journey of breaking stigmas and making sure your team is happy talking about antiperfection, what they need from each other in the workplace and having both the vocabulary and mindset to find solutions to any problems in a friendly and relaxed way.
University of Sheffield
I was so happy to be asked to give the University IT department an Introduction to Neurodiversity via zoom in 2023. I spoke to 50 members of staff about neurodiversity, how being neurodivergent can affect someone at work, masking, accommodations, how inclusive systems can work better for everyone and so much more. I got some really good questions at the end of the session and it was a really welcoming crowd.
Aviva
As part of their mental health week in 2024 I ran a group of the staff in the Sheffield office an antiperfection watercolour workshop over zoom. We painted and chatted about all things antiperfection and they took away a new way to look after their mental health as well as a relaxed shared experience which got brilliant feedback from everyone involved.

Medica
Medica are a tele-radiology company who have lots of staff working remotely and it was clear they wanted to make sure that their staff felt a sense of community in a sometimes isolated profession. The company have advertised my Watercolour Wednesday online session as a meeting place for staff who would like a creative output as well as a gentle space for socialising and in 2025 I'm booked in to give an Introduction to Neurodiversity to their large team of remote and HQ staff and I can't wait.
Why should I run an Introduction to Neurodiversity session for your team?
I feel that this session is such an important first step in terms of learning, and it's a statement of inclusivity for a company to open doors to these conversations. I can take your staff through good thinking and talking points in a friendly and informal way. On the principle of 'nothing about us without us' I always ensure that I'm giving you information directly from the neurodivergent community as I think that where possible people should learn directly from the communities affected, but I don't believe that those communities should have to do the job of educating on their own, so here I am. I'm neurodivergent, my family and friends teach me lessons in the neuro-spicy every day, and I had over a decade of working at high-quality universities making accommodations for students who temporarily or permanently needed special provision to 'level the playing field' (make things fair for everyone).
Think this might be a helpful session for your staff?
The sessions are an hour including Q&A and are held on zoom to ensure everyone who wants to can attend. Cameras can be on or off and all questions are accepted no matter how big or small. I'm happy to chat via email about whether this session is a good fit for you and your team so drop me a line at hello@badibidu.com and let's take the first step.
