Charities and Badibidu: 2025 update
Share
I often jokingly say that I'm the worst business-woman in the world. I don't follow any of the marketing rules (too tired and brain says no to consistency), and I believe people should have beautiful things and relaxation no matter what their income.
Thankfully, Badibidu is having more impact than I ever imagined, despite my terrible business sense, and that's because I am attracting customers, collaborators and clients who want to achieve more than just profit. Money is important, and necessary, but Badibidu has to be more than just profit, I have to really care about what I'm doing or I cannot 'do the thing'. I do also want it to help provide for me and my family and it gives me huge comfort and pride knowing I earn my own income. So here I am stuck between the necessity for profit, and the desire to change the world no matter the lack of profit! Thank goodness I have had the good fortune of attracting some incredible charity clients, and I thought I'd do a blog post to let you all know about them!
The first charity I was contacted by back in 2022 was Scope, the UK charity for disability equality, who I create artwork for (more info in another blogpost here) which they sell on items in their shops and also via their website here.
When I first got the email I replied and made the lady (now someone I email with regularly) prove that she wasn't a scam because it felt too amazing to be real! I'm so proud of this relationship and we have more plans so keep your eyes peeled. Also the online shop has been stocked with beautiful things in time for Christmas so go and take a look here!
Next was Carers UK who emailed me in early 2025 after I emailed offering them an antiperfection art online session. They were very excited and we ran it in June this year, I really hope to carry on working with them because I run sessions with a few parent/carer groups and we are each others' people. There's something precious about spending time with those who 'get it'.

My most recent excitement was being contacted by ADHD UK who I had also sent the email offering an antiperfection art online session, except they had looked through my website and loved what I did so much they asked me to be an ambassador and spokesperson for the charity which is such a huge compliment and honour. I run a monthly live session for them to help raise money for the work they do, which is open to anyone with ADHD (diagnosed or undiagnosed) for any donation amount.
When I spoke to them about working together it was amazing that we both feel strongly that support and information shouldn't have a price tag on them that rules anyone out of the space. Their website is absolutely full of amazing support and information, and being ADHD and having ADHD family it feels like such an amazing match, I love providing a safe space for the people that attend. Thanks for having me ADHD UK. You can see the monthly live online session that I run for them here

Even writing it down here feels unbelievable, and one step closer to my whole goal for Badibidu which was to become a famous little old lady and go to Downing Street to beat everyone over the head with my pearls until I sort some things out. In the meantime I'll work with my amazing charities and keep painting and working with adults and kids to help the idea of antiperfection and creativity seep out into the world.
I'd love any support you can offer via sharing my posts, showing people my website, or talking about me to any charity contacts you have! This is a group effort people so please share far and wide. We're attempting to make things better one imperfect artwork at a time (that's my artwork by the way, your lines are all much straighter!).
Thanks for reading, and I hope it's given you a little insight into what I do with charities right now in 2025. Let's see what 2026 brings!
