This gouache and watercolour illustration was painted specifically for an original story to sit on.
I recently wrote a little thing called ‘The Beautiful Boat’ about my experience of living in a family full of neurodivergent members. That print is also available, and this is the essential addition called ‘Submarine Mode’, as the beautiful boat doesn’t always sail on clear waters…
This original painting does not have the story written on it, but was inspired by the words below:
“My family is a beautiful boat…
Sometimes water comes in faster than we can bail it out so we have to enter submarine mode.
It can be dark down there and you don’t see many people, but it’s calmer avoiding the big waves and we’re all in it together.

How it's made
My paintings are created in layers of watercolour, gouache and ink. High-quality paints and 300gsm acid-free paper ensure the colours are vibrant. Please note that some colours may look different on varying computer screens compared to natural light.

Originals will be sent wrapped in tissue paper and a cellophane wrapper to protect from humidity and weather inside a protective tube.

I select high quality paints for my original watercolours based on vibrancy and lightfastness. It is best not to hang any original watercolour in direct sunlight to maintain the colours at their brightest.
Due to being painted in watercolour, these paintings should be kept dry.
