This gouache and watercolour illustration was painted specifically for an original story about my family. The closer you look the more details you’ll see, from the whale, shoals of fish and mantaray, to the rocks, glowing sun and ripples in the water.
The beautiful boat is dedicated to my gorgeous family who I adore. Life isn’t always easy as a parent but for some families it’s harder. Remember your boat doesn’t have to look like other boats or even be very good at floating some of the time. Doesn’t mean it’s not a beautiful boat.
This original painting does not have the story written on it, but was inspired by the words below
“Our family is a beautiful boat.
We live on the ocean with its highs and lows,
it’s more delicate than some boats,
we all have to help keep it running and fix holes quickly.
If a storm comes we have to work hard to stay afloat,
but we get there eventually,
and it’s a beautiful boat.”

How it's made
My paintings are created in layers of watercolour, gouache and ink. High-quality paints and 300gsm acid-free paper ensure the colours are vibrant. Please note that some colours may look different on varying computer screens compared to natural light.

Originals will be sent wrapped in tissue paper and a cellophane wrapper to protect from humidity and weather inside a protective tube.

I select high quality paints for my original watercolours based on vibrancy and lightfastness. It is best not to hang any original watercolour in direct sunlight to maintain the colours at their brightest.
Due to being painted in watercolour, these paintings should be kept dry.
