This detailed painting of a wren uses Indian ink and watercolour to show all the patterns and warm natural shades of this British bird. The wren measures nearly 14cm from tip of beak to tip of tail.
The eye shines brightly and the crisp details of the feathers contrast with the mixed muted shades of burnt umber in the watercolour layers.

How it's made
My paintings are created in layers of watercolour, gouache and ink. High-quality paints and 300gsm acid-free paper ensure the colours are vibrant. Please note that some colours may look different on varying computer screens compared to natural light.

I select high quality paints for my original watercolours based on vibrancy and lightfastness. It is best not to hang any original watercolour in direct sunlight to maintain the colours at their brightest.
Due to being painted in watercolour, these paintings should be kept dry.
